Radio Western is the voice of Western University and London’s only community radio station. Our programming includes cutting edge music shows, multicultural programming in 14 languages, live coverage of varsity sports, and original spoken-word and news productions. We are one of your only sources for unique local voices telling local stories, in a variety of languages spoken right here in London. Radio Western has been providing an alternative perspective in the Forest City for 36 years!

Connecting the Forest City 2017

Radio Western is appealing to the London community for support. The vast majority of our funding comes from the University Student’s Council at Western University. While our programming services Westerns’ undergraduates, London’s off-campus community is also reflected in our programming. We need to diversify our funding sources beyond the University Students’ Council. Our 2017 funding campaign is called Connecting the Forest City. This campaign aims both to grow our funding sources beyond Western University, and also to deepen our relationships with like-minded organizations and community members.

What We’ll Do With Your Money

In keeping with this year’s fundraising goals, we want to reach out to London! Funds from this year’s campaign will support:

1. The creation of new studio space for our spoken word and news programming.
2. Expanded remote broadcasting capacity: Part of providing an alternative voice is getting out into the community. Radio Western wants to come to you, and broadcast local events. To do that, we need to fund both human resources and upgraded broadcast equipment.
3. Enhanced video production: Previous campaigns have helped fund our very successful video production program. Our program is now in high demand. We want to acquire additional equipment, including cameras and professional lighting to allow us to expand our production capacity.
